Kappa Squadron Report - January 28th, 2001 - MAJ Astarosta
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Squadron News
-----------------------

-I've narrowed the choices for our rival in the upcoming inter-squad comp we'll win :p I want to wait until the roster changes are made so we can have the highest participation.

-And speaking of roster changes, it seems that the now long-awaited transfer of CM Ninja is being delayed for whatever reason...I just expect Ninj isn't going through a bad time for this.

-LT Max Danzig is still quiet over there...if you have problems sending mails, please use another way of telling you're there! ICQ, mIRC, smoke signals, anything!!

-Under the suggestion of LCM Tim and CM Algaron, we'll soon start a cooperative-made battle starring Kappa Squadron! We'll have people writing the plotline, specific plotlines for each mission and mission designers. If one of you have an idea for a general plotline, write a sketch version to me. LCM Tim also suggested we make the battle for all the platforms. MMM!! Get going!!!

-I've been promoted in the MedCorps to the rank of LT for taking the Medical Course...this means that I can wear and USE...the big shiny Butcher Knife!!! Yaaay!! I can't wait to stain it with some red fluid :p

-This week's Ol' Roasty's words o' advice: "If someone invites you to play the harmonica on a country music group (which BTW you don't know how to play) on the street, in a place where after a determined time, playing music on the street is forbidden, say NO. You might end up hidden into a gas-station store while your recently known band mates are taken into custody by law enforcers." (Short reminder: the Roasty's word of advice are based on RL facts that someone in the parallel universe Earth goes through :p)

Squadron Orders
-------------------------

-The Squeaker Hunt comp is near its end! Help Akela and Melvin find Private Squeaker, the Ratterian can't be missing for long, as we've shattered the whole EH searching him! The divisions are in detail:

1. Flying division 1: fly TC-TIE Battle #107, Farewell to Old Friend, laserless (attached)

2. Flying division II: fly an assigned TIE-FREE Mission within the 24 hours
since its announcement.

3. MB Tracking division: seek through the EH-related message boards and see if you can find the post. Reply if you do within the 24 hours of the post.

4. Graphic division: submit a sattellite photo of Squeaker's current location (of course you have to make a graphic, unless you own a personal geostationary satellite :p)
5. Fiction division: write a story about Squeaker's 'odd'isey and his return.

Miscellaneous
---------------------

Some Wing II stuff first...

-Wing II was reopened 2 years ago!! Happy Wing birthday to us all! ;) Roasty remembers when he joined a year ago, and a tear falls for the good old days...and the good new days!! This wing is the better thing that happened to the EH, and I'm proud to be here.

-Rho has been temporarely shut down, and their pilots have been assigned to Theta...hmmm, be aware, as a squirrel, a leopard, and an oddly large Janitor all mixed in one can only mean one thing...huge levels of insanity!!! And just imagine the Rho guys with unlimited supplies of Thetan Beer...*shudders*
Fleet news. (thanks Inky :p)

New NAVCOM appointed
12:26 - AD Theodore [theodore@tiecorps.org]
Today, I have promoted, now, VA Xanos Goatham
Zorrixor to the new NAVCOM. Under his leadership,
I expect to see the Naval Corps continue to grow
and increase its activity. Congratulations VA.

TCCOM award
12:22 - AD Theodore [theodore@tiecorps.org]
In today's Flight Office Report, I have reinstated
the TCCOM Award and given the January, 2001
presentation to Wing XIII. Details are found in
the report but, please give your congratulations
to VA Cyric and all the officers of the GW.

NAVCOM resigns
11:31 - RA Quake [guyquake@btinternet.com]
Recently, Naval Commander, Vice Admiral Bargon
resigned. Here is the letter he sent to the Naval
Corps. [Email From r_bargon@hotmail.com -
24/1/01]

NC Staff, TFCs, and Flight Office members;
It is with great difficulty that I address you
now. For the last couple of weeks, my life has
been getting more and more hectic, and I feel that
it has been impacting my ability to operate as
NavCOM. I also am getting frustrated at the lack
of interest in the current wargame, I am seeing
barely 50% participation, and noone seems to
notice when RL makes me miss a day. For these
reasons, my inability to keep the wargame going,
and my inability to keep the wargame interesting,
I feel that I must step down as NavCOM. In my
tenure as NavCOM, and indeed my whole career in
the Naval Corps, I have tried my best to bring the
Naval Corps to the higher level that it belongs
on, and I refuse to allow the Naval Corps to be
brought down by my inactions. I will of course
still be around, to advise, and help in any way I
can, but at this time I cannot handle the daily
chores of Naval Corps Commander. Admiral Theodore,
I hope that you can find a proper Commander for
the Naval Corps, should you need some help in
finding one, I would be glad to assist in any way
I can. Task Force Commanders, my deepest apologies
for leaving this wargame unfinished, but I do not
feel that anything can be gained from trying to
drag out the inevitable, should the new NavCOM
wish to continue this wargame, I will of course
turn over all the materials I have pertaining to
it.
NavCOM/VA Bargon/VSD Monitor/Naval Corps
(retired)

Bargon will be missed and we all wish him well in
whatever he chooses to do now. :-)

New survey center question
11:17 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
There's a new TC Survey Center question about the
"Battle For Naboo" game. To answer it, simply log
in to the administration section (active pilots
only...sorry Cadets!).

Battle For Naboo on PC
11:06 - COL Kessler [kessler@btinternet.com]
As quoted from The Adrenaline Vault

http://www.avault.com/news/displaynews.asp?story=1242001-93832:

"LucasArts Entertainment is going to challenge PC
game players to unite against the evil Trade
Federation and strike back on land, sea and air in
the flight action game Star Wars: Battle for
Naboo. Released on the Nintendo 64, Battle for
Naboo for the PC features enhanced game
resolution, textures, and a new interface. Star
Wars: Battle for Naboo for PC is being developed
in conjunction with Factor 5 and is expected for
release in March 2001.

In Battle for Naboo, players leap into a variety
of Star Wars vehicles and traverse a wide range of
environments while clashing with numerous Trade
Federation enemies, such as battle droids, droid
starfighters and AAT's. In the more than 15
levels, players experience new and familiar Star
Wars locations while engaging in air-to-air,
ground-to-ground, space and air-to-ground
battles."
Hopefully, this game won't suck quite as badly as
all the other Episode One games. Only time will tell.

Tactical Office Openings
18:31 - AD StarLion [colstarlion@hotmail.com]
Several positions are open in the TAC Office,
interested applicants should see the Tactical
Report for more information.

SW Half-Life mod goes down, new one takes over
23:56 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
The Star Wars Half-Life Mod "Call to Arms" is
closed once again. The team leader instead has
joined up with another Star Wars Half-Life Mod:
"Imperial Battles" which seems to look nicer and
be farther along in development. Gameplay is split
into three teams: Rebels, Imperials, and Bounty
Hunters (with each type holding their own unique
set of skills). The new mod also plans to feature
Light and Dark Jedis with 3rd-person light saber
dueling. According to the news, Beta 1 is set to
release next month. Check out the website here: http://www.chaosrealm.com/imperial/

tiecorps.org hit counter reaches 1,000,000!
23:50 - HA Kawolski [absurefire@aol.com]
Go TIE Corps!

Mac News
20:32 - LC Inkwolf [inkwolf@earthlink.net]
The TIE Corps Mac FAQ has been updated, with minor adjustments and corrections.
Magic Al has moved and expanded his MacJedi page.
He now has an excellent listing of Macintosh tools
for creating new Dark Forces levels! http://homepage.mac.com/magic_al/links.html
