Flight Office Report for the Week of January 12, 2001

The news this week is that after the holidays and a lot of movement throughout the fleet, we have a BUNCH of cadets on the Daedalus and with some effort should see another rise in our numbers. Many people are listing Magazine and newsgroup ads as their reasons for joining and with a couple of ideas, we may be getting more efficient in moving cadets through and getting them into the Fleet for some real fun.

As you all know, SA Compton has resigned as XO and has been replaced by SA Kawolski. Comp has joined Omega as a Flight Member and was promoted, by Executive Order, to the rank of General...the only FM allowed such a rank. I wish Comp the best and thank him for his LONG service as a member of the Command Staff.

Also, following discussion with the Flag Officers of the tie Corps about how best to keep the Flight Office in close touch with the various Wings, I am adding a Command Attaché to serve primarily as a liaison to the Wings. This officer will receive ALL ship and wing reports and should be the first person people go to when they need general (not administrative) help from the Flight Office. I had many excellent applications and would like to thank all who applied, but as they say there can be only one. That one will be... none other than ASF BGCOM Admiral Priyum Patel (spellfire@btinternet.com). Pri has distinguished himself throughout his career and will continue to do so, he is experienced in both running squads and Wings and serving as a leader responsible for an entire Battlegroup. ALL Flag Officer will be getting more detail at a later time, but please everyone congratulate Pri on this move.

As I indicated above, the Fleet numbers look good, but right now we have a large contingent of new Cadets on the Daedalus. The rest of the fleet has shifted around but the numbers remain roughly the same even thought the Naval Corps did an aggressive AWOL check. As we process the cadets, expect the Fleet numbers to rise.
