Kappa Squadron Report - April 30th, 2001 - MAJ Astarosta

Pending approval from Kramer, as Inky will be on a leave, it seems that the lamer that wears the CMDR star on Kappa will rule all of Wing II arses for 2 weeks. Ahh pal, I tell ya, it will be a truckload o' sick fun :p

Squadron News

-The Transvestite Nurse, known all around for his rough sponge baths, the psycho leader from flight III, the guy with the drinking problem...well, one of the people with the drinking problem on Kappa, has got his more than deserved promotion. His hard work and efforts are rewarded. Congrats Commander Jan Wemmel!!
And he's got himself a double party, as he's been promoted to LT in the FMC...boy this guy is gonna be in debt for years...:P

-As it was suggested on the intro, I might be taking A-WC for the next two weeks. Hide now while you can.

-Pending FO approval, LT TK-9135 has gone AWOL and will be removed from the roster. Sad thing.

-But we might get to 11 again! CT Dark Horn has stated his intentions to join Kappa. He is added to the mail list so he becomes familiar with us, and either embrace the madness or run away in amused terror :p

-And in great news to rejoice and party, Razor is back! He's in a very heavy RL commitment period so he was out of touch for a while, but I want to extend my congratulations to him as he's soon getting married in RL!! Congrats Pedro!!! ;)

-COL Badlands has sent a fixed version of the infamous gross-typo-Kappa-banner. Even as I already sent the Tempest version to the FO, his good intentions are acknowledged and his blindness (and mine, and our collective blindness too) is forgiven.
NOT!!! :p

-This week's Ol' Roasty's word o' advice: "Get ready for some ruckuss. Roasty will have a bigger amount of power to make your life spicy"

Yep, 6 missions to fly and the first one is all about Kappa, so we must get a 100%. The deadline is May 6th , head over http://www.inkwolfraid.50megs.com/ to download the mission and submit the pilot file to Stele at tieknt@juno.com Top scorer gets an IS Silver Wings! Miscellaneous

New game platform

On your personal profiles, you can now have
"Counter-Strike" as one of your game platforms. To
edit your profile, you must be a Sub-Lieutenant
(or higher) and use the administration section.

Episode II: The College Years

Here's a little bit of screwed up Star Wars humor
for everyone presented by the good people at
Newgrounds. It's an excellent Flash animation
that's worth the download time.
http://www.newgrounds.com/starwars
Warning: For mature audiences only.

XvT Tactics online

The XvT Tactics course is now online. You can
check it out at
http://www.imperialacademy.org/xvttactics/. The
course professor is MAJ Tarkin.

First EH Ladder season ends!

The first season of the ladder has finished. The
winners are posted on the TC news page.
Thanks to all those who participated and
congratulations to all who won. You'll be getting
your awards soon. The ladder will also be reset
(either resetting the scores or a complete wipe,
I've yet to decide) and will restart soon for
season 2.

Executive Order #0003

>From kawolski.com:
Until the TIE Corps section of the EH Database is
complete, name changes for any pilot that isn't a
Cadet must be approved by the Executive Officer.
Send name change requests to the Executive Officer
(absurefire@aol.com) and CC the Flight Officer
(spellfire@btinternet.com) along with a detailed
explanation as to why you want to change your name.

Wing IX WC open to applications

This from Rear Admiral Ricaud, recently promoted
to RelCOM:
With the appointment of a new Commodore of the
ISD Relentless, it is now necessary for an
equally-new Commanding Officer of Wing IX to be
found. Effective immediately, the post is open to
any and all interest individuals in the TIE Corps
at the rank of Commander or higher, and with
previous experience as a squadron leader. However,
this will be no normal application procedure.
Because the "Fighting Ninth" is an exceptional
wing, recently winning the titles of TIE Corps
Commander's Own and TIE Corps Battlegroups
Flagship within the space of a month, it deserves
an exceptional commander.
Thus, this appointment will not be decided purely
or even largely on past experience, but ability.
All candidates for the position of Wing IX
Commander should write a short essay, with a
minimum of 750 words, on the topic of "the nature
of power within the TIE Corps" with particular
reference to the post of Wing Commander. The
successful applicant should be able to demonstrate
a knowledge and understanding of where an
officer's authority derives from, the limit to
this, interrelational requirements with other
positions with regards to WC, and how the
efficient legitimacy of a command is established
and maintained.
If it sounds confusing, you probably shouldn't
think about applying. There is no right or wrong
answer, all that I want to hear are your own
theories of basically where a Wing Commander's
power lies, how they maintain it, and how they
should exercise and use it. The more intelligently
and eloquently a discussion on the subject you can
write, the better your chances.
All applications should be e-mailed to
val.ricaud@btinternet.com and CC:ed to
jarak@stny.rr.com. You may also send any questions
concerning the application procedure and what is
expected to the former of these addresses, or
catch up with me on IRC as Ricaud in channels
#Emperor's_Hammer, #TIECorps, or #ISD_Relentless.
However, do please send formal applications in soon!

TIE Tactics info

In correlation to VA Fondor's recent news post,
Ford is indeed the current TIE Tactics professor.
However, he's been receiving a trickle of old
tests via e-mail. Old tests and pilot files are
NOT being accepted! For over a month, a new test
has been re-instated in place of the old exam and
requisite battle; if you wish to pass the TIE
Tactics course, please read over the new course
notes and take the new on-line exam, all located
at http://www.imperialacademy.org/tietactics.

SCO resigns

Our Science Officer, Fleet Admiral Kermee, is
stepping down from his position, but he says he
will be staying behind long enough at least to
assist the new Science Officer in getting started.
Requirements for applying to this position will be
posted shortly.

New COM of the DGN Lichtor V

With the recent resignation of Rear Admiral Samuel
Shadd III, a new commodore of the Lichtor V had to
be selected. After reviewing several qualified
applicants for the position, and speaking with
advisors (including former COM Shadd) I have
appointed Rear Admiral Oldham as new commodore!
Hopefully in the next few months, Rear Admiral
Oldham will be helping to build up Praetorians
reputation once more.

ASF News

Lieutenant Colonel Brucmack is stepping down
because he wants to be a FM again. :) That means
that Wing XIII is looking for a new Wing
Commander. All applicants should send their apps
to Rear Admiral Woobee and CC Vice Admiral Cyric
and Lieutenant Colonel Brucmack. The new BGCOM
Intimidator for this month is LCM Michael of the
ISD Greywolf!

TIE Fighter Tactics (TT) course info

Contrary to what many of you believe Vice Admiral
Fondor is not the TT Professor! Send your pilot
files and test to Lieutenant Colonel Ford Prefect.
>From now on any tests received will be deleted
without the notification to the pilot.

Vogue release date

Greetings all. We're hoping to get Issue #1 of
Imperial Vogue released by 15th May. Anyone and
everyone who's writing articles or thinking about
writing articles for us should be looking to get
those sent off to us (vogue@isdchallenge.org) by
12th May AT THE LATEST.
Anything we receive after that will be going into
Issue #2.

Warning to all MSN Users

The Microsoft Network has been infected with the
HELLO.exe virus, as yet, MSN don't know of the
Virus. From my own diagnosis, the virus takes over
your MSN client as soon as you download the file
HELLO.exe. The client will then attempt to send it
to everyone in your friend list. If you respond to
an infected client, it will start to mimic what
you say. I strongly advise that all Windows MSN
users to go and download Trillian, which is a
client that lets you talk on the MSN/AOL and ICQ
network, this client CANNOT be infected. Download
if from Here

AlliED 1.57

A new AlliED has been released for registered
users! This one fixes that annoying "No Cargo" bug
from TIE Fighter imported missions. Another bug
that made briefings corrupt has also been fixed.
Several other undocumented fixes were made as
well.
Find out more about AlliED here: http://homepages.picknowl.com.au/troyd/

New Pulp Phantom episode

Pulp Phantom: The Animated Parody -
http://www.pulpphantom.com - This one is much
longer than previous episodes! The first part
isn't all that exciting, but the second part with
Jar-Jar is much better.
Warning: The site contains language, adult subject
matter, and a TIE Fighter shooting game to play
while you're waiting for the episode to load. For
mature audiences only.

New address for Vogue submissions

It's now possible to send your submissions to
vogue@isdchallenge.org where both Werdna and
Mairin are waiting with eagerness!

Tactical Review

Those of you who have neglected to bother to log
in and submit bug reports will find your FCHG
score dropping rapidly...
But in other news, the Tactical Office will be
conducting a review of it's current status.
Reviews of the Tactical Manual, Tactical Staff,
and all things TAC-y. Any suggestions, comments,
or rants, should be sent to the Tactical Officer
Fleet Admiral StarLion with the subject "Tactical
Review". Failure to use this subject will result
in your email being deleted.

SilentOne Bot

Just a reminder about the bot SilentOne. SilentOne
provides a few useful services from the Internet
Office for general EH membership to use. First off
is it's logging capabilities, SilentOne keeps logs
of the channels it's in and keeps track of the
topten speakers which can be displayed via /msg
SilentOne topten #channel and you can find out
your own listing in the bot's memory by typing
/msg SilentOne place #channel
SilentOne also provides a quote system, where a
separate quote file will be generated for any
channel that wishes to have quotes enabled in. The
channel owner will be given Channel Master access
on SilentOne and is able to give addquote access
to other people.
SilentOne's probably, most useful feature is it's
power to query and Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3 and
Half Life servers for listings of players, pings,
and frags. It is extremely helpful if you want to
check out the number of players currently on the
Team EH: CounterStrike Server
(http://www.tiecorps.org/news.asp#1891) This can
be achieved by typing: !HL Hammersfist.net
If you wish to have SilentOne in your channel,
please send a e-mail to guyquake@btinternet.com
including your ID-Line, Average Number of Visitors
and Channel Name.
