TIE CORPS NEWS: The BGCOM, AD Adrenaline, has resigned and moved to the Reserves due to RL obligations. We in Wing IX wish her well, and look forward to her return to active duty. WING NEWS: As already discussed in a series of Commodore and Wing Commander addresses, ISD Relentless and Wing IX have pulled out of the Battlegroup Competition. Now it’s time to focus on the future and move ahead.

Our new Wing IX banner has been approved and posted! Many thanks go out to MAJ Da’emon Narshay (CMDR, Spear Squadron) for this impressive design. The COM and I think it best captures the spirit of Wing IX.

PRIORITY BRAVO-TWO: The Wing IX Top Gun competition starts Monday! The mission will be sent out to all Wing pilots, and participation is strongly encouraged. The winner will be awarded the IS (SW), with the runner-up getting the IS (BW). All scores will be laserless, and will be tabulated on a pilot-by-pilot basis. That means if you want to win, you’ve got to fly. No squadron averages here. Plan on a Wing Top Gun comp being held every month or so (depending on Squadron activities). In addition to the medal, I’d assume that being the Wing Top Gun will give you a leg up on the Pilot of the Month competition held by the COM.

PRIORITY BRAVO-THREE: The competition to design a banner for the WCO as well as a permanent award plaque ends on November 30. All entries should be sent to me before that date, cc’ing your squadron commander if appropriate. You might also want to include RA Zadash. The winners in each category (banner and plaque) will be awarded the IS (SR), with the runners-up getting the IS (BR). Keep in mind that the WCO banner should be geared to the Wing Commander’s Own competition. This one’s also worth WCO bonus points, for those of you scoring at home (even if you’re by yourself). [Trivia note: which ESPN anchor used this as his catchphrase?]

The test of the WCO points system has already begun. Results will be announced at the end of the month, and any needed adjustments made. My thanks to those of you who’ve commented on this, and I’m still open for comments and suggestions. These need to come in by the end of the month, though.

Many of you may have noticed that I’ve been mentioning recruiting lately. There’s a reason for this, and I’d like to share it with you now. There are two inactive squadrons in the Wing. The COM and I would like to open one of them in the near future. But before we can do that, we need to get the active squadrons to an average of 75 percent full. That means eight pilots per squadron, or a high enough total so that it works out to an average of 8 per squadron (36 total in the Wing, with four squadrons active – seven more than we have now). When we open a new squadron, we will promote the commander and two flight leaders from within Wing IX. That means command opportunities for all of you, as well as a chance to be part of the long history of Wing IX. If you know someone in the Reserves who’s thinking of coming back to the active Fleet, encourage them to join Wing IX. Even a post at the Recruiting Center might stir up some interest. At least it would remind the fleet that Wing IX is still open and active.

Our COM is working on setting up a Relentless home page (with assistance from LC Ted in Sword), and I’m still trying to get some response about a message board on the TC Message Center. After three weeks you’d think they’d get tired of hearing from me and say something one way or the other! For now, though, Hammer Squadron has our only public message board. Drop by and say hello! They’re cooking up some great Wookie burgers down there. And on the subject of communication: all Squadron Commanders who use a mailing list (be it yahoogroups/egroups or whatever) are ordered to add me to their lists.

DON’T FORGET: MSEs are due at the end of this week. That includes all self-evaluations by squadron members. If you have any questions, or think your MSE will be late, ask me NOW. I need ALL MSEs in my hot little hands by December 1. These shouldn’t be too hard if you’ve been keeping up on your ATRs.

One final note: CHEATING! DON’T DO IT! It’s been proven to cause acne in lab rats, as well as a really bad rash once the chain of command gets done chewing on your backside. It’s also a one-way ticket OUT of Wing IX.

SQUADRON ACTIVITIES: Many of the Wing’s squadrons have taken the opportunity provided by the BGC lull to sharpen their flying skills and send some inactive people to the Reserves. This section will be used to announce any active squadron competitions.

Hammer: The Squadron Top Gun competition ended on 11/18, with LT Neko taking top honors (defeating no less than MAJ Shae Kitane).

Shield: No current comps. Shield does welcome two new officers from the Reserves to the rolls of Wing IX. Everyone join me in saying hello to LT Anna Fox and CM Andrew Strinder! Welcome aboard!
